Today, I unfollowed you on social media. Most of you. I’m sorry, but the time has come for me to make a change. A change that is in alignment with my goals. We only have so many minutes, and I want to use the rest of mine more wisely.
Today I recommitted myself to my goals. I wrote down what I really want, and more importantly, why I want it. And there is no way I’m going to get there if I’m spending time looking at your puckered-lip selfies and your new designer bag, strategically placed next to your pretty cocktail.
Today I decided that I want to fill my virtual world with good stuff only. Happy people, uplifting, heartwarming stories and education. The negativity and nonsense found online is infectious, and frankly keeps me stuck in a negative pattern of thinking. I will surround myself with women and groups who are putting good out into the world.
Today I realized I need to get serious. I’ve been spinning my wheels instead of focusing. I’ve been letting myself get distracted, which hasn’t been too difficult in the midst of everything going on in the world.
Today I remembered that all of this means crap if I don’t turn it into action.
So today, I created an agenda for tomorrow. And tomorrow I will create one for the next day.

Distraction and lack of focus can kill your dreams. You don’t get the win without laser focus and hard work, and sometimes they’re not even enough. But for sure you can’t get there without them.
Maybe it’s time to take an inventory. Get rid of some distracting time-suckers in your life and instead use that time for something that fills your heart or pushes you closer to your goals. Get off social. Stop binge-watching TV shows. Make an agenda and stick to it. Get up an hour earlier. Whatever….guaranteed you will find something to chuck out the window and get you closer to whatever it is that you say you want.
But also ask yourself if you’re avoiding those things you need to do to achieve your goals, and actually looking for distractions. Because we do like to self-sabotage! We look for distractions when we aren’t fully committed, we’re stuck or sometimes because we really just don’t care about that goal anymore and we don’t even know it. If that’s the case, get a new goal! You’re allowed to pivot!
What’s distracting you right now?
What are your some of your strategies for getting focused and avoiding distraction?

Working hard to ‘get real’ over here, too. I’ve been enjoying silence more and more which I fear has become a thing of the past for many people. Re-reading this particular blog post kicks my butt on a daily basis and gets me re-focused. Thanks, Karm.

Ah, yes Mary Beth! We seem to need constant reminding to stay on course, but consistency helps, even if we don’t get there everyday! xo
